Preparation and standardization of 0.05 M Iodine BP Volumetric Solution
1. PREPARATION:
Dissolve 20 g of Potassium iodide in the minimum amount of water, add 12.7 g of Iodine, allow to dissolve. Dilute to 1000 ml with water.
2. STANDARDISATION:

Calculation:
Molarity = [Actual Molarity of 0.1 M Sodium Thiosulphate x Titration Reading]/20
Limit: 0.05 M ± 5 % (0.0475 M – 0.0525 M)
3. PREPARATION OF INDICATORS / REAGENTS:
a. 0.1 M Sodium thiosulphate:
Preparation and standardization as per respactive procedure.
b. 2 M Acetic acid:
Dilute 11.4 ml of Glacial Acetic acid to 100 ml with water.
