Standard Operating Procedure for Calibration Of Calculator 

1.0 PURPOSE: 

To lay down the procedure for calibration of Calculator.

2.0 SCOPE: 

This SOP provides guidance to calibrate the handheld calculators, which are used for simple calculations of analysis in Quality control department.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

5.0.  PROCEDURE:      

5.1.Calibration procedure:

5.1.1. Before starting the calibration operate the calculator and verify the keys as per following procedure.

5.1.2. Verify the functions calculated using a calculator with manual calculations.

5.1.3. Calibrate the calculator for Subtraction (-), Addition (+), Multiplication (x), Division (÷), Percentage (%) and Square Root (√).

5.1.4. Verify the functions calculated using a calculator with manual calculations for Subtraction (-), Addition (+), Multiplication (x), Division (÷).

5.1.5. Verify the functions calculated using a calculator with excel sheet for Percentage (%) and Square Root (√).

5.1.6. Operation and Acceptance criteria for calibration parameter

5.1.7. Record all the observed results in respective format. 

5.1.8.  Manual calculations shall be performed on respective format.

5.2. Labeling for Calculator:

5.2.1. Individual identification number for each newly received calculator shall be given as CAL/XX/YYY

CAL – Calculator

XX   – Department

YYY – Serial no.

5.2.2. The identification number allotted to calculators shall be updated in format for Index for calculator identification number.

5.2.3. After successful completion of activity, calibration tag shall be affix as per format.

6.0 Acceptance Criteria:

Not Applicable

7.0 Frequency:

7.1. Internal Calibration: Once every six months.

7.2. External calibration: Scientific calculators should be calibrated by external service providers with the frequency of once in a year.
